    Berlin Wall

    The anti-fascist Berlin Wall is a very famous historical fence built by the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) on August 13, 1961. The wall completely cut off West Berlin of East Germany to East Berlin of the Federal Republic. In November 1989, the government reopened, officially demolished the wall on June 13, 1990 and finished in 1992.

    The wall consists of watchtowers placed along a large concrete wall, anti-tank moats and other ways of defense. The wall was built to define the border between East and West Germany, but it was actually considered as an iron curtain separating Western and Eastern Europe during the Cold War. Many civilians died during this period as the result of trying to get through the wall into West Germany.

    Cologne Cathedral

    Cologne Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Cologne, headquarter of the Archbishop of Cologne and of the Archdiocese of Cologne Government. The church, with beautiful Gothic architecture, is a famous monument of German Catholicism. It was recognized as a world heritage site in 1996. The building is not only the pride of Germany but it also attracts many tourists with an average of 20,000 visitors a day.

    Cologne Cathedral was initially built in 1248 and postponed in 1473. In the 19th century the church was rebuilt then completed in 1880. This is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe with two huge spiers. The building was originally built as a place of worship for the Roman Emperors but was later abandoned. The Cologne Cathedral eventually became a masterpiece for the soul, strength and perseverance of the Christian faith in the Middle Ages and modern Europe.

    Dresden Frauenkirche

    Dresden Frauenkirche is an outstanding church in Dresden, capital of the state of Saxony - Roman Catholic church and later became Protestant church during the Reformation.This is one of the essential destinations that you should visit when you visit Germany. The church was built in the 18th century but then was destroyed in the bombing of Dresden during World War II. The remaining relics are kept after 50 years as a war memorial.

    In 1994, the church was rebuilt after German reunification. Its exterior reconstruction was completed in 2004 and the interior one was in 2005. The church was first built in the 11th century with the Romanesque style. It is considered as an outstanding work of Protestant holy architecture with the largest dome in Europe.

    Pariser Platz

    Pariser Platz - a square located in the center of Berlin, one of the destinations marked with many historical German landmarks. The square is named after the French capital Paris in 1814 and is one of the main spotlights of the city. Pariser Platz is built in a square shape with fountains, green lawns and large space to hold essential events of the country.

    In 1814 the square was called simply as Quarré or Viereck. In March 1814, when the Prussian army and other allies defeated Napoleon, this place was renamed Pariser Platz to mark the victory. The Brandenburg Gate is the main gate on the west side of the Pariser Platz, where the German Democratic Republic marched to celebrate its victory day.
